During your stay
The Chateau is an ideal place to explore and experience
the whole region. Sample the many local vineyards and food producers that surround the Chateau and are all set out in the information book for you to review on your arrival.
The activities in the area including golf, markets and activities on the river are also set out in the Information Book with maps, contacts and addresses.

Local towns
While you're here you should take the opportunity to explore the local towns and centres, here are just a few worth a visit.

BERGERAC
40 minutes by car, the largest town on the river Dordogne and the centre of the region’s wine production. It has a beautiful restored old quarter, interesting architecture and a large shopping centre. There are two large markets (Saturday morning).

DURAS
The local town is a pretty arcaded bastide town 6km from the property, ideal for daily shopping. There are restaurants, supermarket, bars, banks, bakers, butchers and petrol stations. The market is in the main square every Monday morning. The town is on a hill with lovely views and the once grand Chateau de Duras is open to the public.
In July the population of Duras storm the bastide and the Chateau de Duras dressed in traditional costumes, and then eat, drink and dance in the square –everybody is welcome. In the summer Duras has a famous antique fair and wine festival.
MARMANDE
A large town 30 minutes by car. The popular Saturday farmers market is covered;
good to know in case it rains.
MONSEGUR
Another beautiful bastide town with good shopping just a few kilometres from Duras. Market day is on Friday and is held in the main square.

SAINT EMILION
Beautiful ancient town. Outstanding wine and restaurants. 35 minutes by car.
SAINTE FOY-LA-GRANDE
20 minutes by car from the Chateau, an old town on the river Dordogne with excellent shops and restaurants. There is a bustling market every Saturday morning.
