A view of Bergerac across the river

BERGERAC

A view of Duras

DURAS

The local town is a pretty arcaded bastide town 6km from the property, ideal for daily shopping. There are restaurants, supermarket, bars, banks, bakers, butchers and petrol stations. The market is in the main square every Monday morning. The town is on a hill with lovely views and the once grand Chateau de Duras is open to the public.

In July the population of Duras storm the bastide and the Chateau de Duras dressed in traditional costumes, and then eat, drink and dance in the square –everybody is welcome. In the summer Duras has a famous antique fair and wine festival.

MARMANDE

A large town 30 minutes by car. The popular Saturday farmers market is covered;
good to know in case it rains.

MONSEGUR

Another beautiful bastide town with good shopping just a few kilometres from Duras. Market day is on Friday and is held in the main square.
